December 5: A clinical performance on Thursday saw Royal Wahingdoh cruise through to the semifinals of the Imperial Blue Shillong Premier League with a 3-1 win over Langsning. Atsushi Yonezawa was among the goals once again, scoring a brace to earn his third man of the match award in the tournament, while Seityasen Singh contributed one after the Royals were trailing by a goal early on. Langsning threw away several scoring opportunities, including two sitters by skipper Victor Shadap, after showing promise in the initial stages of the match.
Langsning took an early 5th minute lead with Reisangpemmi Kasomwoshi collecting a headed pass inside the box, before putting one past Wahingdoh keeper Bishorjit Singh. However, Atsushi provided the equaliser in the 28th minute with a tap in following a Jackichand pass that came from the right. Ten minutes later, Seityasen Singh took advantage of a situation inside the penalty box to get a foot in for Royal Wahingdoh’s second goal.
The decisive lead came in the 45th minute when defender Ngouba Singh played a ball for Atsushi Yonezawa to calmly slot the ball under keeper Laisharm Singh. Langsning’s fortunes could have changed if not for two misses by Victor Shadap, who on both occasions, found himself in a one-on-one with Wahingdoh’s custodian Bishorjit.
The result means Royal Wahingdoh have secured a place in the semifinals and will face Malki on December 9 while Langsning are out of the competition.
