Babatunde’s 28th minute strike does it for Wahingdoh

March 23: A decisive 28^th minute strike by forward Babatunde saw Royal Wahingdoh snatch a narrow yet comprehensive 1-0 away win against United Sikkim FC in their I-League 2 final phase opener at Silchar on Sunday. Beating the I-League relegated side was not a simple task though, as Sikkim were not easily subdued. Wahingdoh attacked early which saw them put pressure on the opposition before a goal was conceded midway through the first half.

Nabachandra played a key role in Wahingdoh’s goal, sending a through ball for Babatunde to lob the ball over the keeper in the 28^th minute. Early on, both sides appeared wary of the conditions before settling down at least 20 minutes into the game. The Royals held a lion’s share of the possession and created a number of chances but were however, unlucky to convert them.

Royal Wahingdoh play their next away game against Bhawanipore FC, who also won their first match against Kalighat 2-1, on March 25 at 5:30pm at the same venue.
