June 24: Kobar Swer scored took advantage of Wahingdoh’s lapse in defence to score an 87th minute goal and help Pohkseh earn a draw on Monday’s U-19 Shillong Premiere League match. For Royal Wahingdoh, goalkeeper Kennio Lyngkhoi was the star of the day, making numerous saves including that of a penalty in the first half.
Getting off to a strong start, Royal Wahingdoh looked threatening until Pohkseh were offered a penalty in the first half. However, Kennio made an excellent save to deny Pohkseh any chance of a first-goal lead. Fortunes changed in the 37th minute after Shailang was brought down in the box for Wahingdoh’s first penalty. Maitshaphrang took the shot and placed it neatly into the net to place Wahingdoh in front.
But the latter part of the second half appeared to be swinging Pohkseh’s way and the Royal defence finally lapsed in the 87th minute leaving Kobar Swer in the clear. Kobar powered in a shot that eventually gave the underdogs a late equaliser while avoiding what looked like certain defeat.
