Royal Wahingdoh register first win in South Africa

March 28: A brilliant performance display on Friday saw Royal Wahingdoh juniors overcome Supersport United of South Africa via tie-breaker (4-3) after regulation time yielded a 1-1 score line in their Future Champions 2014 match in Gauteng, South Africa. Premchand Singh pulled one back for the junior Royals, comprising of a majority U-17 players, after Wahingdoh conceded a first half lead.

Premchand, assisted by forward Sushil Meitei, found himself in the right position for a tap in to keep the scores level at 1-1 before going into a tiebreaker which was eventually won by the Shillong team 4-3.

Supersport United are one of the top tier teams in South Africa, currently participating in the Premier Soccer League and winning three titles from 2008-2010. Friday’s match in Gauteng was a playoff for the final standings which will determine each team’s final rankings in the tournament.
