October 13: Royal Wahingdoh displayed a dominating show to head home with a 2-1 win over Kohima Komets in an exhibition match in Nagaland. The visiting side came back strongly despite handing the home team a first haf one-goal lead.
The Royals’ second team was more than impressive as they had Komets on the backfoot from the early stages of the match. The first few minutes saw Wahingdoh follow an all-out approach while testing the Nagaland-based team’s defence. Several near chances saw Royal Wahingdoh come close to scoring, but their attempts were somehow thwarted. A 35th minute goal by Kohima’s Kivi saw the home team take the lead while going into halftime.
But seconds after the break, Milancy Khongstia produced a wonderful shot past the keeper for the equaliser. Then in the 60th minute, Eijingmut headed in a well-timed cross from midfielder Mawia that eventually saw Royal Wahingdoh earn a 2-1 victory.
